Rather than just buying a cordless mouse, another option is to go for a keyboard and mouse set. The big advantage comes if you’re going for a dongle rather than bluetooth option, as it means you’ll be able to connect both while only taking up a single USB port.
Of course, if you like things to match, that’s a good reason to consider buying in sets too – the design will then be consistent across both devices.
To be clear, we’re talking about a separate PC mouse and keyboard here, not a combined device with a track pad like you would find built into a laptop. The difference here is that both devices will be paired to the same USB dongle, whereas if you bought them separately, you may need two free ports – one for each device.
The two main brands offering cordless keyboard and mouse sets are Logitech and Microsoft. In general the former company’s products tend to be a little cheaper, but the Microsoft’s will often interface better with software like Office if you’re a Windows user and spend a lot of time in software like Word and Excel.

Best Wireless Keyboard And Mouse Sets
If you’re tempted by getting a combined package, here’s a few of our favourites.
Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic

As we did on the homepage with our rundown of the best wireless mouse options, we’re going to start with a premium model to show what’s worth considering if you can stretch to having the best.
The Microsoft Sculpt range has been through a few variations over the years, but place a heavy focus on ergonomics and providing a comfortable experience if you spend a lot of time at your desk.
While it’s far from the cheapest on the market it’s a really easy keyboard to use and includes an optional keypad if you like to use the number pad on the keyboard. That’s a really neat feature if there’s limited space on your desk as you can just get it out as required.
The mouse is equally well designed, meaning this combo set appears first in our preferred wireless devices.

If Microsofts offering is stretching the budget a little too much, then here’s a much cheaper alternative at the other end of the spectrum. While it’s a fraction of the cost, it’s still very easy to use. It’s not got the ergonomic contouring and has a certain clunky feel, but it does the job when it comes to using your computer.
If you’re in a place where you need a new keyboard and mouse, would prefer a wireless option and don’t have a lot to spend on your purchase, you could do a lot worse than this combo.
